Humm, for some reason my first post got deleted. Must be a conspiracy. :) In any case, I was just tossing out the idea of having a casual, and I emphasize "casual" get-together maybe once a month or so. This should be casual in the sense of "no agendas" but rather simply getting together due to common interests and sharing ideas and making new acquaintances. The reason simply being, there are plenty of business type networking functions going on, but most leave a lot to be desired. This way, if something turns into business it did so not because of fierce tactics, but because in most cases casual, non expectation type of events typically deliver more due to the relaxed atmosphere. Just some thoughts. No agenda, but making what we do a bit more fun.

I think this sounds like a great idea!

I'd be willing to help set up or coordinate such an event. I'm not good at starting things up though, just pushing them through. If there's an interest, I'm definitely willing to help.

I believe Ning has a Calendar/Events function, perhaps we could use that to schedule meet-ups? I have always been interested in seeing what other people are working on so maybe even a show and tell of sorts? Thoughts?

Wow. Thanks for the feedback. Yes Brian, there is a Calendar of events somewhere in this system, but I think you need to turn it on. I know from another group (Tucson Photags) on here that I belong to, they have such a calendar turned on. It is the "Events" mechanism. Oops, I gave away my other secret passion. :)
